Bibliology (THREE CREDIT HOURS) RATIONALE: RATIONALE: The purpose of this course is to introduce the student to a logical defense of the authority of the Scriptures. The theological environment today cast considerable doubt upon the reliability of the written Word of God. Therefore, this course is designed to equip the theology student with a sustainable argument that our “Canon of Scripture” is the plenary revelation from God, without error. This course will also introduce the student to the various English translations, with emphasis on Biblical preservation. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Provide the student with information that supports the infallibility of the Scripture. Provide the student with information that supports the accuracy and reliability of the various English translations, specifically the Authorized Version. Introduce the student to the historical development of the English translations, with emphasis on the Divine preservation of the inspired text. TEXT: Primary Text: Defending the King James Bible by Dr. D.A. Waite Secondary Text: Revision Revised by Dean Burgon COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Read each required text. Provide a five (5) page positional paper reflecting the student’s thoughts and observations gleaned from the texts. Paper must be doubled spaced. Taped lessons may be substituted for the positional paper. Teach or preach a series of lessons on the subject matter covered in the text.
